Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of using a forage seed mix for chickens?
Growing your own forage provides fresh, nutrient-rich greens that support chicken health, improve egg quality, and offer natural enrichment. It also reduces reliance on purchased feed by allowing hens to graze directly.
What seeds are included in this mix?
The blend contains a diverse mix such as vetch, black sunflower, buckwheat, ryecorn, peas, chicory, clover, millet, radish, and ryegrass, designed for balanced nutrition and palatability.
How long does it take to grow before chickens can eat it?
Typically, the forage is ready in 4–10 weeks, once plants reach around 15–20 cm and have established strong roots to withstand grazing.
How much area does one pack cover?
As a guide, 1 kg covers approximately 10 m², depending on sowing density and desired pasture thickness.
Will the forage regrow after chickens eat it?
Yes, with proper management. Avoid overgrazing and allow recovery time. Some species regrow well, giving multiple grazing cycles, while others may only last one or two grazings.
Loved the Poultry All-Season Seeds Forage Mix. My chickens had a fantastic time foraging through once it all grew. I had received the first pack as a gift and now I have already purchased a second large pack. Thank you

Easy!
Super fast and easy growing. We built a narrow bed in the chook pen and just tossed a few seeds onto the soil with a little water. With little to no attention we had sprouts within days.
The girls love the greens and even after they demolished the growth in a grazing session, the sprouts seem to regenerate pretty well (we have a humid/temperate almost subtropical micro climate)
Im sure we'll need to reseed soon, but the pack still has loads remaining for us to resow
