Each ingredient has been selectively picked to ensure quality, with majority of our ingredients sourced from Australian Farmers.

    Compounds of Microencapsulated Essential Oils

Microencapsulated essential oils derived from carvacrol, eugenol, cinnamaldehyde, and capsicum extract, combined with hydrogenated vegetable fat for controlled release. Designed for inclusion in poultry diets, it provides a consistent and uniform source of essential oil compounds through advanced encapsulation technology.

    Carvacrol (from Thyme Oil)

Carvacrol is a natural compound extracted from thyme oil, known for its aromatic and functional properties. It is a phenolic monoterpenoid studied for its role in maintaining feed freshness and supporting optimal gut conditions when included in animal nutrition formulations. In poultry feed, carvacrol is used in microencapsulated form to ensure stability and controlled release within the digestive system. Developed under animal nutritionist guidance, its inclusion reflects a science-based approach to formulating balanced and high-quality feed products designed for consistency and performance.

    Eugenol (from Clove Oil)

Eugenol is a naturally occurring compound found in clove oil, valued for its aromatic and preservative qualities. In animal nutrition, it is recognised for its ability to maintain feed freshness and stability. When microencapsulated, eugenol is protected from degradation during processing, ensuring consistent inclusion throughout the feed. Formulated with guidance from animal nutritionists, it contributes to the careful balance of essential oil compounds used in advanced poultry feed formulations.

    Cinnamaldehyde (from Cinnamon Oil)

Cinnamaldehyde is the primary active component of cinnamon oil, widely studied for its aromatic and functional properties in feed applications. Its inclusion supports feed palatability and formulation integrity through controlled release technology. Used in precise amounts within microencapsulated blends, cinnamaldehyde provides a stable and uniform distribution of essential oil compounds. Developed with input from animal nutritionists, it forms part of the science-based approach behind balanced and consistent poultry feed formulations.

    Capsicum Extract

Capsicum extract is derived from chilli fruit and contains naturally occurring compounds such as capsaicinoids. In animal nutrition, it is used for its functional properties and contribution to feed uniformity. Through microencapsulation, capsicum extract is stabilised to ensure controlled release and protection from heat during processing. Its inclusion reflects a scientific approach to formulating consistent, high-quality poultry feeds guided by animal nutrition expertise, contributing to balanced ingredient profiles within advanced essential oil blends.

    Chilli Powder

Chilli powder is a natural ingredient derived from dried and ground chilli peppers. It contains capsaicinoids, which contribute to its characteristic colour and aroma. In poultry feed formulations, it is used in small, controlled amounts for its natural flavouring and colouring properties. Carefully incorporated under nutritionist supervision, chilli powder complements other functional ingredients within balanced feed formulations designed for consistency and quality.

    Fenugreek Powder

Fenugreek powder is a natural ingredient derived from the ground seeds of Trigonella foenum-graecum. It contains plant-derived compounds and fibre components that contribute to feed texture and nutritional balance. When used in poultry formulations, fenugreek is included for its natural composition and aroma, complementing other carefully selected ingredients. Each inclusion is guided by animal nutritionist expertise to ensure consistency and quality within complete feed formulations.

    Soybean Meal

Soybean meal is a high-quality plant-based ingredient derived from dehulled and ground soybeans. It is naturally rich in protein and amino acids, making it a widely used carrier and nutritional component in feed formulations. In poultry diets, it provides bulk and uniformity, helping to balance concentrated ingredients and ensure even mixing. Its inclusion supports formulation safety, consistency, and ease of feeding within nutritionally guided blends.

    Diatomaceous Earth

Diatomaceous earth is a naturally occurring siliceous material formed from fossilised algae. It has a fine, powder-like texture and is commonly used as a flow agent or carrier in feed formulations. In poultry diets, it assists with ingredient uniformity and handling, helping to create a consistent blend. Carefully selected for its purity and stability, diatomaceous earth contributes to the physical balance of the final mix without affecting nutritional formulation.

    Poultry Safe Probiotic

Levucell® SB is a live yeast probiotic (Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii) developed for use in animal nutrition. It is selected for its proven stability during feed processing and inclusion consistency. Used in poultry formulations under animal nutritionist guidance, Levucell® SB reflects a science-based approach to supporting balanced and high-quality feed blends.

    For Optimal Health & Wellbeing

Healthy Hen Gut-Guard is an all natural, plant based concentrate designed to be mixed into your existing feed. It combines microencapsulated essential oils, MCFAs, organic acids, probiotics and functional herbs to promote digestion, maintain gut balance, and contribute to overall vitality in poultry.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I feed Healthy Hen Gut Guard all year round?

Yes. Healthy Hen Gut Guard is an all natural, plant based concentrate that can be safely mixed daily into your flocks feed. Its low inclusion rate makes it safe for all adult poultry and easy to use. It is powered by essential oils like oregano and thyme, MCFAs, organic acids, probiotics and functional herbs. The perfect combination to use as a daily supplement for optimal health and wellbeing.

Is Gut Guard safe to feed to chicks and pullets?

Healthy Hen Gut Guard has been scientifically formulated for adult laying poultry. There is no research or trials undertaken for the use of it in pullets, chicks, or poultry under the age of 16 weeks and is not recommended. If you are seeking a product suitable for young stock, Nesty Boxes suggests the Poultry Porridge Veggie Mash.

Is Healthy Hen Gut Guard suitable for all poultry?

Yes. The Nesty Boxes Healthy Hen Gut Guard is suitable for all adult laying poultry. It helps improve nutrient absorption, balance gut flora and strengthen immune defence. It has added diatomaceous earth for detox support and chilli for natural protection.

Do I need to feed anything else when using Healthy Hen Gut Guard

This is a concentrated supplement designed to mixed into your flocks existing feed. The existing feed should be a balanced ration that supports the nutritional needs of laying poultry. This could include the Nesty Boxes Complete Feed, Nesty Boxes Veggie Mash, and or a pellet or grain mix from your local fodder store. The daily recommended feeding rate is 20g per 5 chickens per day. Chickens eat roughly 130g per head per day, thus 20g of Healthy Hen Gut Guard is mixed into 650g of feed.

    What is microencapsulation?

Microencapsulation forms a protective barrier around active ingredients, ensuring stability, extended shelf life, precise targeting, and enhanced control. This process improves formulation efficiency and optimizes performance. It is a process where tiny particles or droplets of one material are surrounded by a coating of another material, forming microcapsules.

    Will this deworm my flock?

Healthy Hen Gut Guard won’t directly deworm your flock but it will assist with parasite defence. It supports gut integrity, by building stronger intestinal walls which make it harder for parasites like coccidia to invade. It promotes beneficial microbes that will compete with harmful organisms and assist with nutrient absorption which reduces stress on the immune system. The microencapsulated technology will ensure that the active compounds reach the intestines, where parasite defence is needed most.

    Is your feed organic?

No, our feed is not certified organic. We focus on maintaining a low carbon footprint and using premium, consistently sourced grains. Organic certification often requires frequent ingredient changes due to supply variation, which can compromise nutritional balance and quality. Our priority is stable, science-backed formulations that deliver consistent results.

How long does it take for Gut Guard to work?

You’ll see early changes within 24–72 hours, with firmer droppings and steadier appetite as gut function stabilises. By 3–7 days, the microbial balance shifts, reducing harmful bacteria and improving digestion. Structural gut improvements begin around 7–14 days, with full strengthening of the intestinal lining by 14–21 days. Peak performance benefits, including better feed efficiency and more consistent laying, occur after 3–4 weeks of continuous feeding.

How long do the benefits of Gut Guard last after I stop feeding it?

You’ll see the early benefits fade within 3–7 days, as the helpful microbial balance begins returning to normal. By 10–14 days, the improvements to digestion and intestinal structure start to reverse. After 14–21 days, the gut lining has fully returned to its baseline condition, and performance benefits are no longer present.

Hen Gut Guard and all the rest.....

I am new to owning Chickens and have had my three for nearly a year now. I feed them the normal feed you get from the big box retailers, but they absolutely ADORE everything I feed them from Nesty Boxes.

      Every little bit helps.

The chooks were already pretty healthy and laying well, just a little insurance. A little bit goes a long way.

      Gut guard

At first my chooks weren't sure of it but now they love it. Every time I feed them they are picking at the spoon to get in first. Lol.
