      Ladies loved it

My girls always love the Nesty Boxes’ porridge. And the plain mash is no different. Gonna order the bulk pack next time!

    Instructions for how to use:

    1. Measure 100g of Poultry Porridge.
    2. Boil water and then measure 150ml.
    3. Combine the hot water with the Poultry Porridge, stirring until the pellets become a mash.
    4. Adjust by adding more water if needed to achieve the preferred consistency.
    5. Serve to your poultry immediately.

    Quantity to feed:

    1. Chickens eat approximately 130g per head per day. If you are spreading it out as a treat, you can mix 100g with 100ml of water for a delicious treat for approximately 5 to 7 hens.
    2. It is up to you how much you provide when giving it as a treat. Chickens and other poultry absolutely LOVE the porridges, so the more you put out, the more they eat!
    3. Note that the Plain Mash will need to be fed in conjunction with a pellet or grain blend to ensure optimal nutrition for your flock.

    All your questions answered

Can all poultry eat Nesty’s Poultry Porridge?

Yes, Nesty’s Poultry Porridge is safe for all poultry, including chickens, ducks, geese, and more. Even baby poultry, such as chicks, goslings, and ducklings, can enjoy any flavour from the range. Be sure to always add water to ensure easy consumption, as this feed is not suitable to be served dry.

Why should I feed my flock Poultry Porridge?

Feeding your flock a wet mash provides a nutritious, highly palatable meal that even the pickiest eaters will enjoy. It’s also a great way to increase their fluid intake on hot days while boosting productivity. Plus, it offers enrichment, giving your chickens a fun, engaging activity.

How many chickens will a 950g pack of Poultry Porridge feed?

Chickens eat approximately 130g per head per day. Thus, a 950g pack of the porridge would feed approximate 7.3 chickens for 1 day if it was the only form of feed they had access to. However, it is recommended to use the Plain Mash as a treat as it does not include necessary vitamins and minerals. When used as a treat, you can mix 100g mash + 150ml of water to feed 5 to 7 hens. That means you can offer 9 to 10 servings for 5 to 7 hens of the Super Mash as a treat.

What treats can I mix into the Plain Mash?

The Plain Mash has been specifically formulated to allow users to add in their flocks favourite ingredients. Fun options include mealworms, sunflower seeds, fresh greens, food scraps, or the Nesty Superfoods. It is also a fantastic way at feeding liquids that tend to deter chooks if added to their water.

What makes Nesty’s Poultry Porridge the better choice?

Made with Australian grains and produced in South Australia, Nesty’s Poultry Porridge range is manufactured in a Feed Safe Accredited Feed Mill and offers nutritious, balanced mashes that your flock will love. With a variety of flavours and carefully selected ingredients tailored to poultry nutritional needs, there’s something for everyone. They are free from antibiotics, all-natural, and perfect at feeding the fussiest of feeders.

Can I feed Poultry Porridge dry or without water?

No, Poultry Porridge is designed to be mixed with water and served immediately. Feeding it dry may cause chickens to choke or struggle with the large pellet sizes.

Can I use cold water instead of hot water to prepare the mash?

Yes, you can use warm, hot, or cold water. However, cold water will take longer for the porridge to soak and reach the desired consistency.

Can Nesty’s Plain Mash be fed as my flock’s sole diet?

Nesty recommends complementing it with pellets, a grain blend, or Nesty Complete Feed. It is best served as an instant meal rather than a feed to be left out, especially in hot weather.

Can I feed other treats to my flock along with the Poultry Porridge?

Yes, but keep treats to no more than 10% of your flock’s diet. Always provide clean water and ensure pellets or a grain blend are available for ad-lib feeding.
