Fourteen Reasons to love Nesty
Each ingredient has been selectively picked to ensure quality, with majority of our ingredients sourced from
Australian Farmers.
Corn
High in carbohydrates and low in fibre, maize (corn) is easy to digest and a valuable source of energy. Maize can increase weight and contains less sugar than sweet corn. Cryptoxanthin is a colour pigment present in corn that may help give egg yolks a brighter yellow colour too. The high calorie, low protein content makes maize an essential and widely used cereal as part of the balanced diet.
Black Sunflower Seeds
Sunflower seeds provide healthy fats and antioxidants, whilst improving the quality of hens eggs and boosting their immunity. Rich in vitamin E, sunflower seeds provide energy and can aid in the moulting process and periods of stress. The high linoleic acid content is essential for keeping poultry at a healthy weight, particularly throughout winter, where plumper chickens will handle the cold better.
Mealworms
Mealworms are a highly nutritious and well accepted addition in chicken diets. Rich in protein, mealworms assist in growth and development, feather growth and repair, and enhancing egg quality. They are a fantastic source of amino acids necessary for chicken health. The nutrients in mealworms can help strengthen the immune system of chickens, making them more resistant to diseases and infections.
Sorghum
Sorghum is a resilient cereal grain valued for its balanced energy and protein profile. It provides a rich source of starch and essential nutrients, supporting steady energy release in feed formulations. Naturally low in moisture and highly stable in storage, sorghum offers consistent quality and excellent blending properties, making it a reliable ingredient across a wide range of feed applications.
Safflower Seeds
Safflower seeds are an oil-rich ingredient valued for their high content of unsaturated fatty acids, particularly linoleic acid. They provide a natural source of energy and contribute to a glossy coat and healthy skin when included in feed formulations. With moderate protein and fibre levels, safflower seeds also enhance feed texture and palatability.
Lupins
Lupins are a high-protein legume rich in natural fibre, energy, and essential amino acids. They contribute to balanced nutrition through their digestible protein and oil content while supporting feed structure and consistency. Naturally low in starch, lupins provide a sustainable plant-based ingredient with excellent nutritional density and functional versatility in feed formulations.
Hulled Oats
Hulled oats are a nutrient dense cereal grain that retains the bran layer after dehulling, providing a balanced source of energy, protein, and fibre. They support steady energy release through digestible carbohydrates and contribute to feed structure and texture. Naturally palatable, hulled oats are a versatile ingredient suited to a wide range of feed formulations.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I feed the Nesty Boxes Peck N Frenzy Treat Mix as my poultry’s main diet?
No, this feed has been specifically designed as a treat blend only. It includes all the grains that chickens enjoy most such as Black Oil Sunflower Seeds and Mealworms. Designed by our in house Animal Nutritionists, the ration is carefully formulated to offer a rich mix that is safe and nutritious for your flock. Feed at no more than 10% of your flocks total diet daily.
Why should I feed Nesty Boxes Peck N Frenzy Treat Mix over a regular scratch mix?
This blend contains only the ingredients that poultry constantly look after. It excludes wheat, pellets, or large whole grains which may be sifted or left behind causing wastage. The Nesty Boxes Peck N Frenzy has been carefully designed to ensure your birds leave no grain behind, making it an economical and popular treat.
Can I feed the Nesty Boxes Peck N Frenzy Treat Mix as part of a balanced diet?
Yes, the Nesty Peck N Frenzy blend is a perfect way at adding additional calories to your flocks diet or enticing fussy feeders during periods of stress. It should be fed at no more than 10% of their total diet and accompanied with a pellet or grain mix as their ad-lib food source.
Can I feed the Nesty Boxes Peck N Frenzy Treat Mix to my chicks and pullets?
This blend has been specifically designed for the laying bird. It is suitable as a treat for pullets but due to the size of the whole grains in this mix, it will be too large for chicks and growing poultry. It is a fantastic option for broody hens and fussy feeders who need additional calories or are facing a period of stress.
When would I feed my flock Nesty Peck N Frenzy?
If you intend on training or taming your feathered friends, then look no further. This mix is perfect for enticing and capturing your flocks attention. It includes sunflower seeds and safflower seeds, undeniable favourites that are sure to tempt even the fussiest of feeders. It is also an excellent option for helping birds who have lost weight as it will provide additional calories in a palatable format. Periods of stress, moulting or during transport are also suitable times to offer the Nesty Peck N Frenzy.
How long would a 950g packet of Nesty Peck N Frenzy last?
The average chicken eats 130g per head per day. This treat mix should only be fed at no more than 10% of your flocks total diet. Thus 13g per head per day. One packet of 950g Nesty Peck N Frenzy would feed 10 chickens for a week or 73 birds in one sitting. It is the perfect, economical option without all the wastage you see from regular scratch mixes where chooks pick through for their favourite foods.
Is your feed organic?
No, our feed is not certified organic. We focus on maintaining a low carbon footprint and using premium, consistently sourced grains. Organic certification often requires frequent ingredient changes due to supply variation, which can compromise nutritional balance and quality. Our priority is stable, science-backed formulations that deliver consistent results.

Please be aware that due to state specific quarantine regulations, we are unable to supply certain seeds and whole grains to Western Australia and Tasmania. This item is marked as restricted. I have 5 chooks that are aged between 4 and 6. They are all still laying and I attribute their amazing stamina to Nesty’s products. They love their treats and the Peck n Frenzy is one of their favourites. With the current heatwave I’ve been making them frozen treats with the peck n frenzy and of course nothing is left. The also get Gut Guard in their morning porridge that has really boosted their health. Thanks Nesty!

Chook Treats
Tried from the sample box, and now repurchased as full size. Chooks love it, and love scratching for it in the grass. Very happy and will be repurchasing again in near future.
