Everything we sell ships from our own warehouse in Mount Barker, South Australia. The flat rates above are the whole story on cost. Below is how quickly we dispatch, who carries your order, and what happens if something goes wrong.
We pack and send orders quickly. Most leave our warehouse within one to two business days of you placing them, and often sooner.
We do not dispatch on weekends or South Australian public holidays. An order placed on Friday afternoon goes out at the start of the following week.
During spring hatching season, Black Friday and the lead up to Christmas, dispatch can take an extra business day. We post a notice on the site when that is happening rather than letting you work it out from a tracking number that has not moved.
You will get a dispatch email with tracking the moment your order leaves us.
Our rates are flat, and flat means flat. One bag of mash or six, the freight is the same.
If your order contains more than one product type, the higher flat rate applies. You are never charged two freight rates on the same order.
We do not currently offer an express service. Every order travels on our standard rate, which is why we put the effort into dispatching quickly instead.
We ship with Australia Post, Aramex, TNT and Couriers Please, and we pick whichever gets your parcel to your address fastest for its size and weight. You do not choose the carrier at checkout. We match it to the parcel.
Tracking is provided on every order.
Orders leave our warehouse together, but they do not always arrive together. A 20kg bag of mash and an incubator are handled differently by carriers, so parcels of very different sizes often separate in the network.
Split parcels usually land within a couple of days of each other, and each one has its own tracking link in your dispatch email. Feed bags and nest boxes are the most commonly affected, because of their size.
If one parcel arrives and another has not turned up within a few days, email us and we will chase it.
When something sells out and stock is on the way, we list it for preorder. The product page says so before you buy, along with the expected arrival window.
If your order contains a preorder item alongside in stock items, we hold the whole order and ship it together once everything has arrived. That way you pay one freight charge and get one delivery.
If you would rather have the in stock items now, email us and we will split the order at no extra freight cost. We would rather you had your feed than sat waiting on a nest box.
Preorder arrival windows come from our suppliers and can move. Shipping estimates on the site refer to when your complete order is dispatched, not when the preorder item lands with us. If a date changes we will email you rather than leave you wondering.
Large feed orders, bulk hardware and coop orders may need to travel by pallet rather than parcel. Where that applies, one of our team will email you before dispatch to explain the options and confirm any additional freight cost, so you can choose pallet freight or standard parcel freight.
Pallet freight adds roughly a day of processing. The carrier will call to arrange a delivery window. Pallets are delivered to the kerb at residential addresses, or to a receiving dock at business addresses, and disposal of the pallet is up to you.
We deliver right across rural and remote Australia and we choose the fastest carrier we can for those runs.
Our flat rates are averaged across the country, which works for the overwhelming majority of orders. Some rural and remote addresses cost considerably more to reach than a flat rate can absorb. Where the actual freight cost to your address exceeds what we consider reasonable for the flat rate, we will contact you before we ship and request the additional amount.
The choice is then yours. Approve the extra cost and we send it straight away, or cancel the order for a full refund with no cancellation fee. We will never charge you more than the price you saw at checkout without asking first, and we pass on the carrier's figure without adding a margin.
Feed, seed, supplements and small accessories can go to a PO Box through Australia Post. Nest boxes, incubators, coop doors and coops cannot. Those need a street address, residential or business.
We cannot send sowing seed or live plant products to Western Australia or Tasmania. Both states run biosecurity import controls on seed. Ours is certified, but each state requires additional inspection, treatment and documentation that costs more than the seed itself.
Affected product pages carry a delivery restriction notice. If you order restricted seed to a WA or Tasmanian address we will contact you before dispatch, remove the seed, refund it in full and send the rest of your order as normal.
Everything else we sell ships to both states without restriction.
We ship within Australia only.
At checkout you can select Authority To Leave, which tells the carrier to leave your parcel without a signature. It is convenient if nobody is home during the day, and for feed orders it means your delivery is not sitting at a depot.
It also means the parcel sits unattended. If you would rather it did not, leave the option unticked and the carrier will card you instead.
We will still help you trace a missing parcel either way. Where a carrier confirms delivery to your nominated address under an Authority To Leave instruction, recovery is not always possible.
Yes. A tracking link is emailed to you as soon as your order leaves the warehouse. If it has not arrived within a few hours of your dispatch confirmation, check your junk folder first. Tracking can take up to 24 hours to show movement after the carrier collects, so a number that has not updated overnight is normal.
Email us as fast as you can with your order number. We dispatch quickly so we cannot always catch one in time, but we will try. Once a parcel is with the carrier we cannot redirect it.
Feed, seed, supplements and small accessories, yes. Nest boxes, incubators, coop doors and anything bulky, no. Those need a street address.
We deliver to home and business addresses across Australia. What we cannot guarantee is that the driver will carry heavy items upstairs, through gates or around to a shed. Drivers are happy to leave a delivery at your front door or ground floor. If you are on acreage with a long driveway, add a note at checkout and we will pass it on.
Yes. Add them in the notes field at checkout and we will pass them to the carrier. Whether the driver can follow them is up to the carrier, but most do. We cannot arrange scheduled delivery times unless you organise your own freight collection.
Tell us within 7 days of delivery. Our carriers impose claim deadlines on us, which is the only reason that deadline exists. Send a photo of the damage and the packaging and we will replace or refund it. Full detail is in our Return Policy.
Photograph it where it sits, including the outer packaging, and email us the same day. A split feed bag is almost always a handling issue in transit and we will replace it. Do not try to salvage feed that has been on a wet floor or a dirty depot pallet.
Check your tracking link first for an attempted delivery or a depot hold. If it is more than 3 business days past the estimate, email us with your order number and we will chase the carrier. You do not need to contact them yourself.
We do. Risk stays with us until your order is delivered to the address you gave us. A lost or damaged parcel is our problem to solve, not yours to argue with a courier about.
Not at present. Our flat rates are set to cover freight rather than to make money on it, which is why a single bag of feed and a full order of it cost the same to send.
Local pickup from Mount Barker can be arranged. Email us before you order and we will sort it out.
Email sales@nestyboxes.com.au with your order number and a person will get back to you.
