Provides a rich source of calcium to help produce stronger, thicker eggshells and reduce breakages.
🐔 Supports Hen Health 🐔
Essential for maintaining bone strength and overall wellbeing, especially in laying hens with high calcium demand.
🌿 Natural & Slow Release 🌿
Crushed shell particles provide a steady calcium release, allowing chickens to absorb what they need, when they need it.
Provide shellgrit in a separate container or feeder alongside your chickens’ regular feed. Do not mix it directly into their feed, as chickens will naturally regulate how much they need.
Ensure shellgrit is available at all times, especially for laying hens, as their calcium requirements increase during egg production.
Place the container in a dry, easily accessible area within the coop or run. Check regularly and top up as needed to maintain a constant supply.
For best results, use shellgrit as part of a balanced diet that includes a quality complete feed and fresh water.
Suitable for all poultry, but most important for laying hens to support strong eggshells and overall health.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is chicken shellgrit and why is it important?
Shellgrit is a natural calcium supplement made from crushed shells. It supports strong eggshell formation and helps maintain healthy bones in laying hens.
Do chickens need shellgrit if they are already on layer feed?
Yes. Even with a complete feed, chickens benefit from free access to shellgrit to meet additional calcium needs, especially during peak laying periods.
How does shellgrit help digestion?
Shellgrit contributes to digestive efficiency by assisting the gizzard in breaking down feed, improving nutrient absorption and overall flock health
How should I feed shellgrit to my chickens?
Provide shellgrit in a separate container free-choice. Chickens will naturally regulate their intake based on their calcium needs, particularly laying hens.
What happens if chickens don’t get enough shellgrit?
A calcium deficiency can lead to thin or soft eggshells, reduced egg quality, and weakened bones over time, impacting overall productivity and health.
