Attracts bees to your garden, helping flowers turn into fruit and vegetables more reliably. Increased bee activity improves pollination, fruit set, and harvest quality across edible gardens. More visits mean better pollination, stronger fruit set, and healthier plants across veggie gardens, orchards, and flowering landscapes.
Makes Soil Healthier Over Time
Deep roots loosen compacted soil and pull nutrients closer to plant roots. This helps soil hold water better, grow stronger plants, and stay fertile longer without relying on heavy fertiliser use.
Creates A Tough, Low Effort Meadow
This blend forms thick ground cover that protects soil, reduces weeds, and limits erosion. Once established, it needs less mowing and care while creating a soft, natural meadow-style finish.
Because your garden
deserves better
Feed your Soil & Pollinators
English Meadows creates a soft, natural meadow that feeds bees while improving soil health. Flowers provide season-long food for pollinators, while deep-rooted plants improve soil strength and fertility. It suits gardens, orchard floors, lifestyle blocks, and grazing areas where low effort, long-lasting performance and visual appeal matter.
How to Grow:
Sow 10mm below the surface by scratching up the soil, using 25 to 40g per square metre. The optimal time to sow is in Autumn, or late spring. Warm temperatures and a wet soil bed will help this blend establish best.
Whilst this blend is designed to persist, we encourage you to water during dry spells and sow around the break of the season (Autumn).
Fertilise when sowing with high nitrogen and phosphorus based fertiliser. This will assist in early leaf development and root growth. Approximately 100g per square metre.
How to Mulch English Meadows if the Planting Looks Fatigued
If your English Meadows blend begins to look tired after a long flowering period, you can rejuvenate the bed by mulching the foliage back into the soil. This returns valuable organic matter and prepares the area for the next cycle of growth.
1. Cut the plants back to 10–15 cm above the soil
Use secateurs, shears, or a whipper snipper. Cutting rather than pulling preserves root channels and soil structure.
2. Leave the cut material on the surface as mulch
Spread it evenly. This helps protect the soil, retain moisture, and feed microbes as it breaks down.
3. Water the mulch layer thoroughly
Moisture speeds decomposition and activates soil biology. Aim for a slow, deep soak.
4. Allow 2–3 weeks for breakdown
During this time the material will soften, settle, and begin feeding the soil. You’ll often see earthworms pulling it below the surface.
5. Option to resow or leave to regrow
-Resow if you want a fresh, dense flowering display.
- Let it regrow if some perennial species remain active (e.g., clovers, chicory, cocksfoot).
6. For faster recovery, top-dress lightly with compost before resowing
A thin layer (5–10 mm) boosts biological activity and supports germination.
